Product Designer, tldraw

tldraw is a very good whiteboard built for the web.

The product is both an application that everyone can use to create collaborative drawings and an open source library that other developers can use to create infinite canvas applications of their own. You can read a lot more about tldraw here.

We are a very small team based in London. We’re organized as a remote team, however we have an office in Finsbury Park where several of us work from regularly on a “just show up” basis.

The company is venture-backed.

We don’t use sprints or cycles, but we ship every week.

The company’s founder (Steve Ruiz) is a designer and developer specializing in creative tools. In the past, Steve has done most of the visual design, with additional help coming from consultants. We now want to create a design resource within the company.

tldraw is a designer-led company. We treat every problem as a design problem. Our approach to product is rooted in quality and consistency achieved through research and iteration. The team is well known for “building in public” and for spending the time necessary to solve hard problems.

Our value proposition to users is an unusually high-quality whiteboard that works across all of your devices without the bloat or friction of applications like Miro, Figjam, and others.

Our value proposition to other developers is that we’ve gone deep into building our canvas, fully worked out each problem and its fundamentals, and have come up with something much better than a customer would want to invest in creating themselves.

As a product designer, your role will be to identify and address design needs inside of the main tldraw application as well as in the expanded product: landing pages, marketing materials, documentation, and release notes.

As we are a small team, it will also be your responsibility to help identify where the team needs to grow with respect to design. You can expect to be involved in building our the team’s design organization.
